Job Summary
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the position provides
strategic advice on corporate service policies for complex financial,
information management and corporate services challenges. The position is responsible
for Finance - accounting and contract management, budget, FOIP, IT,
accommodations and records management. The position is the Senior Financial
Officer and Chief Information Officer for the ministry.

Evaluation Rationale
- F: Requires extensive knowledge of business,
financial, operational planning and accountability and knowledge of
provincial corporations and board management.
- II+: Provides financial, IT and CIO leadership to
the ministry by leading the planning and reporting process for a ($183 M
grant budget), formulating policies, managing complex issues and leading
staff to achieve results. The push up recognizes responsibility for all
corporate service functions such as accounting, contract management, budget,
FOIP, and IT in a small ministry.
- 3: Serves in an advisory role to the Alberta
Science and Research Authority, Alberta Research Council and iCORE. Develops
and maintains effective relationships within the ministry, across government
and with stakeholders. Collaborates with shared service providers to manage
resource allocations and service standards.
- The position is responsible for providing a consolidated
financial plan, financial report capacity and annual reports for the
ministry, three institutes, two subsidiaries and one authority. Develops the financial
services structure, systems and processes, and creative ways of analyzing
forecasts and anticipating cash flow.
- F: The position is the SFO and CIO for the
ministry. Provides strategic options, policy advice and briefing papers and
recommendations to the DM.
- 3+: The Executive Director manages the
corporate service programs, finance, budget, IT, accommodation and records
management for the ministry.
- C: Provides all corporate services to the ministry
and provides financial advice to the Boards.
