| 21.01 |
When an Employee is designated to be immediately available
to return to work during a period in which he is not on regular duty, he
shall be compensated the amount of one-half (1/2) hour's pay at his regular
rate or the equivalent time in lieu for each four (4) hours on standby or
any portion thereof on a day that is not a paid holiday. For standby on a
paid holiday, the compensation shall be one (1) hour's pay at his regular
rate or the equivalent time in lieu for each four (4) hours on standby or
any portion thereof. |

When an Employee, while on standby, is unable to report to
work when required, no compensation shall be granted for the total standby
period. |
| 21.03 |
When an Employee is called back to work during a period in
which he was on standby, he shall be compensated pursuant to Clause 21.01
for the hours he was on standby in addition to compensation pursuant to
Article 19 for the hours worked on call back. |
| 21.04 |
An Employee shall not normally be required to standby on two
(2) consecutive weekends or two (2) consecutive paid holidays, where other
qualified staff are available. |
| 21.05 |
For purposes of this Article, an Employee will be
compensated either through a paid settlement or time off with pay in lieu of
a paid settlement. |
