Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

EFAP is a prevention-focused program that provides voluntary, confidential counseling and Work Life Solution services to employees and their immediate family members. The key goal of the EFAP is to connect Government of Alberta (GoA) employees to counseling or the support resources they need to help them get through personal problems occurring in or outside the workplace. The services are delivered by Shepell•fgi, a leading provider of employee assistance services across Canada.

The EFAP offers GoA employees and family members, regardless of location, access to face-to-face counseling services through a network of trained professionals. Shepell.fgi also offers telephone and e-counseling services to accommodate employee preferences.

Work Life Solutions and Well Being consulting services offer telephone consulting on a wide range of topics, including childcare and eldercare, parenting, financial and legal consulting, nutritional and naturopathic wellness, and smoking cessation. For more information, please click on the Fact Sheet on this page.

The EFAP is an added benefit to working in the GoA. There is no cost to employees or their immediate family members for accessing services.

To access EFAP services, simply call 1-800-268-5211 (English) or 1-800-363-3872 (French).
