Stream Definition:

 Professional audit work applying accepted audit theories and principles, when conducting financial and/or management audits internal to the ministry or government. Auditor positions are engaged in independent review of activities within the organization that may include compliance audits or operational "value for money" audits, where complete objectivity is essential. Work at the senior levels involves planning audits, selecting audit procedures, recommending or selecting team members, providing instruction on methods, and selecting and establishing operating performance standards, and preparing reports on the findings.

Auditor Level 1

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

  • University graduation in a related field and eligible for enrollment in a recognized accounting program leading to an accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA; or equivalent as described below.

    Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience provided the candidate is eligible for enrollment in a recognized accounting program leading to an accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA.

Auditor Level 2

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

  • University graduation in a related field and eligible for enrollment in a recognized accounting program leading to an accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA plus two years of audit experience; or equivalent as described below.

    Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience provided the candidate is enrolled and actively pursuing a recognized accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA.

Auditor Level 3

Minimum Recruitment Standard:

  • CMA, CGA or CA designation plus three years of audit experience; or equivalent as described below.

    Equivalency:  An equivalent combination of education and experience provided the candidate is enrolled and actively pursuing a recognized accounting designation such as CA, CMA or CGA.
