Supervisory Competency Self-Assessment

The Supervisory Competency Self-Assessment is an interactive tool you can use to:

  • Identify your competency levels based on the APS Competency Model

  • Compare your levels to levels that define superior performance in supervision

  • Identify learning and development activities

Who is it for?

It is for those who supervise or who think they would like to supervise in the future.

How does it work?

For each competency, you identify your level and enter an example behaviour. Next, you identify development activities to strengthen competencies you choose to work on. At the end, you will be able to print a report with your competency levels and plan.

What can I do with the results?

You can plan your learning and incoorporate it into the learning and development plan in your performance contract.

How do I access it?

  1. Open and print Self-Assessment Instructions.

  2. Open Supervisory Competency Self-Assessment.

  3. If needed, enable macros as shown in Self-Assessment Instructions.

  4. Save the Supervisory Competency Self-Assessment to one of your own folders (e.g. My Documents).

  5. Do the self-assessment.
