Welcome to the Alberta Public Service

New Employee Orientation!

A career with the public service offers rewarding, diverse and challenging work with plenty of room to grow.  You will get the opportunity to work with talented, innovative and helpful colleagues who are all working together to build a stronger Alberta.

Our organization is firmly rooted in four values—respect, accountability, integrity and excellence.  These values guide our daily work decisions and are foundational to why we’re often considered one of the best public services in Canada, if not the world.

On this website, you will find helpful information and resources as you begin your career with the Alberta Government. You can also register through MyAGent for the next Orientation to Government session, which we host throughout the year.  Orientation is a half day session open to new employees to welcome you to working in government.  You will hear about our guiding vision and values, overviews of ministries, and get a Government 101 overview.  It’s also a great opportunity to meet other new employees from across government.

Feel free to ask your colleagues any questions you may have as you become more familiar with our organization. I wish you a successful and rewarding career as you begin your journey with the Government of Alberta!

Warmest regards,

Lana Lougheed
