What We Do

The Alberta Public Service (APS) functions on four key elements:

Public Policy Management:
Development of a governance framework including development of strategic directions, policy, legislation and standards, which meet Albertans' needs.

Service Delivery Management:
Management of the delivery of services through either direct provision of quality, affordable services which Albertans say are best delivered by the Government of Alberta, or through building and managing the accountability framework and relationship with external service delivery providers.

Stewardship of Alberta Resources:
Management of Alberta's natural, historic and cultural resources by balancing a variety of interests to achieve sustained economic, environmental and social well-being.

Positioning to promote people, prosperity and preservation:
Working with Albertans and specific organizations in a variety of ways to support a strong community and family structure, to facilitate opportunities for economic advantage, and to ensure access to health care and learning opportunities.
